About the author and this page

My name is Jan Simon-Pražák. I work as a curator of entomology collections at the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové (Czech Republic).

I hold a master’s degree in zoology from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, where I focused on the systematics of Histeridae fossils. I am currently continuing this research as a PhD student at the same institution. I am also working on the taxonomy of extant Histeridae.

You can view my work on my ResearchGate profile.

I created this page to make Histeridae research more accessible and interesting to a wider audience. It will also serve as a platform for freely available photos of Histeridae beetles, since pictures of most species are not easy to find online.

This page was created in 2025 and will continue to be updated. For ways to participate in this project click here or contact me.
